Friends are for things like that! At the Cannes Film Festival, Kate Beckinsale talked openly about a time when Keanu Reeves and Robert Sean Leonard saved her.
On Monday, May 29, Beckinsale, 49, disclosed through Instagram that the incident happened in 1993 while she, Reeves, 58, and Leonard, 54, were all present at the premiere of their movie Much Ado About Nothing with co-star Denzel Washington.
“So, my mum DID find one of the original Cannes pictures but unfortunately it’s not full length, so you can’t see Dr. Martens,” Beckinsale began in the caption of a photo that showed her posing with the actors. “Fun fact though: I had bought the bodysuit in the Sock Shop at the airport and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel [and his wife] Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch area popped themselves openly and it flipped up like a roller blind.”
The Underworld actress went on to say, "I simply silently panicked because I didn't feel like going digging around in my under carriage with all of us in the rear of the car. I entered the largest red carpet of my life and told Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard in a whisper what had transpired.
Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson also starred in Much Ado About Nothing in addition to Beckinsale, Reeves, Leonard, and Washington. The romantic comedy, which is based on William Shakespeare's play of the same name, follows teenage lovers Hero (Beckinsale) and Claudio (Leonard), who plan to wed Benedick (Branagh) and Beatrice (Thompson), who are frequently at odds with each other verbally.
Following her attendance at the Pot-Au-Feu premiere on May 24 at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, Beckinsale has a flashback scene. She wore a translucent, crystal-studded romper with a projecting silk overlay for the screening, making her look leggy. Along with glittering platform heels and a bouncy high ponytail, she paired the Zuhair Murad creation with.
