Initially, Andy Muschietti hinted about a potential appearance of Reverse Flash in the movie, and presently, he has disclosed another significant aspect of the coming superhero journey.
Spoiler Alert!
Andy Muschietti reveals a significant Superman cameo in The Flash.
There was a rumour that Nicolas Cage will be donning the Man of Steel cape in the next Ezra Miller-directed movie not too long ago. And it appears that the rumours were accurate.
The Flash director Andy Muschietti simply gave away Nicolas Cage's appearance as Superman in the movie.
In an interview with Esquire Middle East, Muschietti acknowledged the Oscar winner's assumption of the role and validated the rumour. The filmmaker praised Nic as being "absolutely wonderful." "Despite it being only a cameo, he dove into it."
Nearly three decades ago, Cage was supposed to play the heroic Clark Kent in Tim Burton's Superman Lives, which sadly never made it to the big screen. Cage, who is "a massive Superman fan," however, was finally able to don the coveted cape of the Kryptonian superhero after all these years thanks to the It director. The Argentine director also considered working with the Renfield star to be a dream come true. "I had always wanted to work with him. I'm hoping we can collaborate once more soon," the 49-year-old continued.
We don't understand why Muschietti would drop such a huge bomb on the audience just weeks before the movie's premiere in terms of the movie itself. Nobody knows if he's intentionally discovering these plot details as part of a premeditated plan or if it was a mistake. However, we do know that Cage's Superman will only appear in this single episode of The Flash.
What Does Superman's Role by Nicolas Cage Mean for the DC Universe?
Henry was released from his Superman role, leaving the part vacant, due to the extensive renovations James Gunn and Peter Safran put out in DC Studios after taking over the property. Gunn did mention casting a younger actor for the role, but aside from a few rumors, there haven't been any updates on who will be playing the role moving forward.
The new appearance of DC's Superman will be revealed in Gunn's Superman: Legacy.
